Hangers and Bolts

A very full section because bolting presents a lot of choices! Here you'll find the various sizes and types of hangers for most occasions; and then the bolts which actually anchor the hangers to the rock. Finally you'll find some of our multi-item deals, BUT if you want to buy more significant numbers of anything, contact us directly by e-mail. We're happy to help!

Raumer M8 self drill rock anchor
£2.70

Raumer M8 self drill rock anchor

Available in quantity once again, from Raumer... M8 self drill rock anchor. Classic two part anchor used for setting belays in rock, using an anchor driver and hammer (also available). Still a useful combination of lightness and strength (assuming a good placement in good rock!) with no need of a drill. Prospecting, remote expeditions, beyond sumps...there is still a place for these in every exploratory caver's inventory. Expeditions should contact us for significant discounts.
Raumer Rainox anchor
£2.22

Raumer Rainox anchor

Like a spit (same dimension), but stainless and not self drilling. Advantages? A couple. Number 1: place this, and it should last a lot longer than a spit, and it will also work for subsequent parties using the traditional and widely used 'bolt and hanger' arrangement. Number 2: if you are placing your hangers by drill, this anchor does not require that the holes be finished off by hand to flatten off the end of the hole - just drill, and tap in. Number 3: the wedge and anchor are joined - you can't drop half of the arrangement down the pitch by mistake (although you can still lose the whole lot, if you like) NOTE: to use this, you need also the 'Striker'(article Rm131) to place the bolt. See the relevant description to see why it's needed - but don't worry, this kit is pretty cheap and reusable as well. NOTE AGAIN: you can place this by hand, but you'll want a Rocpec or similar to make the hole. Phil Rowsell - who does a lot of bolting - suggests the Hilti four tip bit for most...
Raumer Rainox striker
£1.50

Raumer Rainox striker

Raumer Rainox Striker. Use with the Rainox anchor (article Rm130). When the hole is drilled, screw this small steel item into the anchor, place the anchor in the hole, and then the Striker forms the striking surface. Hit it squarely with your hammer (as with all the spits you've ever placed)and this will expand the cone in the end, and fix the anchor in place. Remove Striker, screw in bolt with hanger, off you go. NOTE: buy at least two if your rigging relies on this - and check that the threads are protected in transit.
Raumer Hang Fix M8L
£2.70

Raumer Hang Fix M8L

Stainless (316L) caving anchor of the 'through bolt' variety, M8 x 78 Two expanding collars increase security, making it very suitable for caving in terms of bolting up and also setting anchors for pitches - but not for climbing anchors to take big leader falls. Requires a drill, or Rocpec type hand drill, to place it. Best bit is probably the Hilti four tip; 120mm long is just right and avoids over drilling - which wastes battery life Strength 20 - 22Kn depending upon direction of load.
Raumer Hang Fix M8XL
£2.94

Raumer Hang Fix M8XL

Stainless (316L) caving anchor of the 'through bolt' variety, M8 x 100 Two expanding collars increase security, making it very suitable for caving in terms of bolting up and also setting anchors for pitches - but NOT for climbing anchors to take big leader falls. The M8XL is better at coping with poor rock tham the M8L. Requires a drill, or Rocpec type hand drill, to place it. Best bit is probably the Hilti four tip; 120mm long is just right and avoids over drilling - which wastes battery life Strength 20 - 22Kn depending upon direction of load.

£3.60

Raumer Hang-Fix M10XL
