Petzl Pixa 3
A very useful bit of lighting. A relatively light weight headtorch, taking advantage of more modern technology and robust enough to cave with. Well suited group use, and as a *really* solid backup for remote use; if your lovely expensive light falls down Hurricane in the Berger, you could actually (with spare batteries!) get out again without too much grief.
Because the Pixa takes both rechargeable and standard batteries, it is good for clubs where it is difficult to have one individual responsible for all lights being charged. Equally useful for very remote areas where the recharging of Lithium Ion batteries is not possible.
Two LEDs with a total of three settings:
i. wide beam (twelve hours, 30 lumens)
ii. wide beam with medium intensity spot (six hours, 40 lumens)
iii. high intensity spot (three hours, 50 lumens)
The light takes two AA batteries, which are very easy to carry as spares. Although the lamp unit and batteries are mounted in one case on the front of the head (160g), balance is acceptable and the wide elasticated strap is comfortable when worn on the head direct.
Water resistance rating is IP67; which means waterproof to 1m depth for thirty minutes.
