Petzl Pixa 2
A very useful bit of lighting. A relatively light weight headtorch, taking advantage of more modern technology and robust enough to cave with. Well suited group use.
Because the Pixa takes both rechargeable and standard batteries, it is good for clubs where it is difficult to have one individual responsible for all lights being charged. Equally useful for very remote areas where the recharging of Lithium Ion batteries is not possible.
One LED with a total of two settings:
i. low beam, with wide and uniform flood (twenty-six hours, 20 lumens)
ii. high beam with medium intensity spot (three and a half hours, 80 lumens)
iii. when all else fails, thre reserve mode will give thirteen hours at 10 lumens when the red blinking light tells you thatthe batteries are almost drained; but this happens automatically and is not user - selectable.
The light takes two AA batteries, which are very easy to carry as spares. Although the lamp unit and batteries are mounted in one case on the front of the head (160g), balance is acceptable and the wide elasticated strap is comfortable when worn on the head direct.
Water resistance rating is IP67; which means waterproof to 1m depth for thirty minutes.
