Most recent Petzl helmet, made for both caving and mountain-related activities.
It is of hybrid construction, with a hard ABS shell protecting an EPP and EPS foam liner (in English, shock absorbing material). Feedback is that although it looks nothing like a caving helmet, and has no space for your Mars Bar, it is pretty comfortable. Also, surprisingly compact.
The Boreo comes I in two sizes, similar to the old Elios; otherwise, the headband and chinstrap are easily adjustable within the size range.
It carries Petzl’s Top and Side Protection product label, which is sensible if your main head-threat is falling off things, rather than primarily being struck from on-high, alpine style.
It is well vented, which is necessary because the newer generation of foam-lined helmets are generally warmer than the webbing-cradle type of the previous decade.
It is important to note that due to its construction, the Boreo *can* fit bolt-on lights such as the Scurion; however it is a job that is easier with practice: so if you’re planning on doing this it’s worth contacting us directly.
Conforms to the CE EN 12492. Weight 295g. Guaranteed for three years.
