Bestard Canyon Guide

A very technical boot made for wet and rocky places, but it seems to have a similar performance to a B1 alpine boot. There is a lot of technical information available on the Bestard website, which we summarise here:

Made in Spain (actually, Mallorca)
Eight lace attachments (ladder climbers NB, the top attachments are hooks)
Upper is rubber and treated H2O Microtech Cordura
Sole is Vibram Best Idrogrip
Drain holes, and very fast-draining
Built-in gaiter prevents significant grit and sand ingress
Lightweight but reasonably protective (around 1.2kg for size 8)
Rubber rand protects toe, but not a hard toe box.
Comes with insoles, of course.

In the context of diving these have the same benefits of low profile, flexibility and adjustability as the Etche Canyon. We do not consider the lace-hooks to present a significant line-trap relative to other items in the area (such as fin straps) but we mention it for completeness. As they are a neater fit than the Etche Canyon, in the toe area, they are marginally easier to place and remove in pocket fins.
