Adventures Underground

An excellent combination of story telling with historical accuracy, laced through with practical information. Following on from Gemmell and Myers 1952 classic, Underground Adventures, this book gives the reader an insight into the determination, ingenuity and derring-do that has been expended in the ongoing exploration of the caves of the Yorkshire Dales.

Over the course of seventeen chapter, Dave Haigh and John Cordingley take us through trips and projects ranging from the 'Hunt for The Penyghent Master Cave' to 'Underwater Boulder Mining', via pushing in West Kingsdale and Gaping Gill. As active 'pushing' cavers in the Northern caves for quite a few decades, Dave and John are particularly well placed to give this account, as they have first-or second-hand experience of many of these discoveries.

A book for all cavers who realise that "it's about the story", as well as those who are practically interested in what it takes to find new ground in this heavily-worked, but still enticing area.

Soft cover, with laminated cover: 240 pages with 290 colour images, maps and surveys. The size is 24cm by 17cm.
